City of Downs is seeking Utility Billing Clerk. This is a Part-time Position with 20 hours a week; Monday through Friday 8:30am-12noon. This position must also be flexible to cover if the City Clerk needs to be gone. Duties Include: Prepare and mail utility bills, collect payments, handle shut-offs, customer service. Requirements: must be a U.S. citizen, have High School Education or equivalent, and be bondable.

SUMMER MOWING HELP

City of Downs is seeking summer mowing help for 2024. Applicants must be 16 years old or older and willing to work up to 30 hours per week. This position requires the mowing and weed-eating of all city owned property, and other help as needed. Apply at the City Office or download an application by clicking the link above. 

ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER

The City of Downs is seeking highly motivated and ethical applicants for Animal Control Officer.  Animal Control Officer is responsible for impounding and containing stray or nuisance domestic and wild animals; and enforcing all city ordinances related to animal control and order among the city's domestic animal population.  This employee responds to citizen complaints, and must possess verbal and written communication, organizational, and public relations skills. WATER/WASTEWATER OPERATOR 

The City of Downs is seeking highly motivated and ethical applicants for full-time employment. The City of Downs owns and operates the water and wastewater utilities. This position includes, but not limited to, water and wastewater operations, general maintenance (utility, streets, swimming pool, etc.), mowing and other city improvements, as necessary. Applicants must be able to operate large equipment and possess a valid Driver’s License.

Preferred qualifications include: KDHE Class I Wastewater Certification and Class II Water Operator certifications or be willing to obtain certifications within 18 months of hire date.

The City of Downs provides generous health insurance along with vacation days, sick leave, holiday pay, and KPERS retirement. This job offers a competitive wage depending on experience and certification. Selected applicants will be subject to pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
