Water/Waste Water Operator

The City of Downs is seeking highly motivated and ethical applicants for full-time employment. The City of Downs owns and operates the water and wastewater utilities.

This position includes, but not limited to, water and wastewater operations, general maintenance (utility, streets, swimming pool, etc.), mowing and other city improvements, as necessary. Applicants must be able to operate large equipment and possess a valid Driver’s License.

Preferred qualifications include: KDHE Class I Wastewater Certification and Class II Water Operator certifications or be willing to obtain certifications within 18 months of hire date.

The City of Downs provides generous health insurance along with vacation days, sick leave, holiday pay, and KPERS retirement. This job offers a competitive wage depending on experience and certification. Selected applicants will be subject to pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.

Lifeguards

The City of Downs is looking for Lifeguards for the Summer 2023 season. The pool opens the last weekend in May.

Lifeguards must be minimum age of Fifteen (15) years old and American Red Cross Lifeguard Certified with First Aid and CPR training. 

Those who are employed with the City receive one swimsuit paid for and are reimbursed for certification.

Duties include (but not limited to):lifeguarding, patron safety, handling daily cash, keeping track of passes and patron numbers, cleaning and pool upkeep.

Pool Manager

The City of Downs is looking for a Pool Manager for the Summer 2023 season. The pool opens the last weekend in May.

Job duties include (but not limited to) Managing lifeguards including scheduling, Patron safety, recording patron numbers, purchasing concessions, handling daily cash deposits, keeping track of passes, timecard approval, cleaning and pool upkeep.

Summer Help

The City of Downs is looking for seasonal mowing help for the Summer//Fall 2023 season. 

Applicants must have a valid driver's license and be willing to mow and weed eat all city property. They are under the supervision of the City Superintendent.
